Baby Sundial Sweater

PATTERN OUT NOW!

Original test call:

Deadline: 29th August 2023

I AM SO EXCITED to bring you my first ever baby pattern!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH! If you're used to knitting adult size garments this will be such a fun knit and it'll go so quickly, well it would if you didn't stop to admire how cute it is every 5 minuets.

Unlike my other test knits I am not going to request on body photos as I know that not everyone is comfortable sharing photos of their kids on social media / in general, I would of course still like feedback on the fit and would be happy to share photos of tiny cute little humans if you want to provide them.

Sizes: A (B, C, D, E) (F, G)

New born (3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months) (18 months, 24 months)

Actual garment waist sizes: 18” (19.5”, 20.5”, 21”, 21.5”) (22.25”, 23”) / 46cm (50cm, 52cm, 53cm, 55cm) (57cm, 58cm)

Yarn: Sample knitted in Katia baby merino (165m / 50g). Any yarn that meets the gauge may be used.

Yardage:

70 (75, 80, 85, 90) (95, 100) grams / 230 (250, 260, 280, 300) (310, 330) meters

Yardage is for suggested body and arm length, if these are lengthened you will need additional yarn.

Needles:

2.5 mm & 3 mm circular needles and/or DPNs

Needle sizes are recommended, choose a size needed to achieve gauge, the smaller needle should be 0.5 mm smaller than the larger needle.

Gauge:

26 stitches & 38 rows per 4” / 10 cm in cable pattern on larger needles after blocking.

If you find that your flat and in the round gauge differ a lot, make sure to check your gauge in the round.

Notions:

2 spare cables or waste yarn to hold sleeves, at least one removable stitch marker.

Difficulty:

Confident beginner. The sweater is knitted top down in the round, techniques required are: knitting in the round, folded hem, basic knitwise increase, casting on with the back loop.
